Christmas Memories 2009

Christmas came and went so quickly, but the memories made will last forever. I hope everyone had an enjoyable day with family and friends. Below is a photo of "Joy to the World" by Shepherd's Bush, I stitched for my sister as her gift for Christmas 1997. I still think this is a beautiful finish and I love the way it is framed.

Next up is another photo I took at her house of a little "cupid" I stitched for her as a gift several years ago. I made it thinking it would be nice to display for the month of February for Valentines. Story goes that she loved it so much it hangs in her kitchen all year long. It's so funny to me that I love to stitch, hence the needle and thread, and she runs from it!!! How can two sisters be so different??? I don't know what I would do without my needle and thread. It seems that over the years, some of my styles have changed but I still love the choices of framing I had these two mounted in. They are so breathtakingly gorgeous to me still to this day.

Below are some photos taken Christmas Eve. We had lots of good food, entertainment, giggling and rough housing going on. What would Christmas be like without the magic of children? They make the magic of Christmas come to life.

I love this photo, you can see my hubby, Mike, and my son, Brayden in the mirror. It looks so peaceful, and the warmth from the glow is so embracing to me.

A beautiful "Angel Boy" stands watching on the mantel. I love the glow of the Christmas tree in the background.

This is my BIL, Dave, entertaining us with his talents on the guitar. I hope someday I will be able to learn how to play as good as him.

This is the beautiful Aryanna playing her pretty little violin. She has such talent at a tender age of six.

These are my two rugrats, Brayden and Mike.

The young violinist "Aryanna".

My handsome brother, Kerry, and his son, Preston.

The mardi gras girl, Reign, I can just hear her giggling, can't you? She loves to take her clothes off just like her Mom did when she was little, I guess a chip off the old block as they say.

The three musketeers, Mikey, Aryanna, and Elisa (aka Snowy).

And look at this cute little angel, Kita, she looks like she has a halo above her head.

My tired son, Brayden, after a long day with his family.

Below are some pictures I took at Gardner Village a few days before Christmas. It was soooo freezing cold that night and I struggled with my camera/batteries to capture any photos.

This picture was taken on Dec. 22, 2009 in Fruit Heights, UT. I love antique tractors and I have several photos of ones from all over. Whenever I get a chance to spot a tractor I have to stop and capture it especially if it has time worn character. I guess I am just a country girl at heart.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my blog. I have some fun projects I have been working on, but just haven't taken the time to sit long enough to blog about them. Once the holidays are over I hope I can get you up to date on my dabblings.

On the day after Christmas, a Christmas wish is granted to "Berit" so she will have a Happy New Year project for 2010!! She chose "Redbird Sampler" by Bent Creek as one of her wishes to stitch. Congrats Berit, please send me your address so I can send you your "wish".

Now, for some after Christmas humor I though I would share:

The 12 Days AFTER Christmas

The first day after Christmas
My true love and I had a fight
And so I chopped the pear tree down
And burnt it, just for spite

Then with a single cartridge
I shot that blasted partridge
My true love, my true love,
my true love gave to me.

The second day after Christmas
I pulled on the old rubber gloves
And very gently wrung the necks
Of both the turtle doves
My true love, my true love,
my true love gave to me.

On the third day after Christmas
My mother caught the croup
I had to use the three French hens
To make some chicken soup

The four calling birds were a big mistake
For their language was obscene

The five golden rings were completely fake
and turned my fingers green.

The sixth day after Christmas
The six laying geese wouldn't lay
So I sent the whole darn gaggle to the
A.S.P.C.A.

On the seventh day, what a mess I found
The seven swans-a-swimming all had drowned
My true love, my true love,
my true love gave to me.

The eighth day after Christmas
Before they could suspect
I bundled up the
Eight maids-a-milking
Nine ladies dancing
Ten lords-a-leaping
Eleven pipers piping
Twelve drummers drumming - well, actually I kept one of the dancing ladies -
And sent them back collect
I wrote my true love
"We are through, love!"
And I said in so many words
"Furthermore your Christmas gifts were for the Birds!"

I was so surprised to see that I had won!! I've emailed you my street address, so hopefully it will appear in your inbox with no troubles. Thank you so much--I'm so looking forward to it! :D

You have a beautiful family, and I think it's wonderful that you entertained each other with music rather than just watching TV after dinner and presents. :D I also admired the "glow" of the room's atmosphere in that mirror pic you shared. :)

Sounds like a lovely Christmas time was had by you. I love Joy To The World, and it looks beautiful framed with Jill Rensel's mats. Another I have in my stash that I must do one day. :)

Congrats to Berit for winning her wish!

Sounds like you had a lovely Christmas!

I'm the stitcher in my generation too - my sister admits she can barely sew on a button, but she loves receiving things I've stitched (and so does my little niece) and I like making her things because I know they will be appreciated. It's rather bizarre, because we had the same upbringing, with a mum who is a needlecraft wiz!

I thought the tractor was quite sweet too, but I do have a soft spot for these vintage workhorses. My uncle - aged 80 - bought his sixth one to restore this summer - he does a great job, and he, my dad and another uncle have fun tootling around in a neighbouring field with them :o)

What a wonderful Christmas you had - the photos of the family are wonderful. Lots of love and smiling faces in all! Now, that is what the holiday should look like. We had a nice one, just me and my little family (DH & 2 boys)...but somehow the holidays isn't the holiday without the extended family to celebrate together!
Happy Holidays!
