BIRDS, BABIES & ORNAMENTS

My rustic "fish" tree.

Seasons Greetings!!! December is flying by, work is crazy, crazy, crazy busy!!! No time to put up the tree yet, boo hoo!!! But, I do have a tree I keep up all year round in my "fish" room. So, all I have to do is plug in the lights and wa-la, ta-da, the tree comes alive. Not quite the exact thing I had in mind, but it works! (At least for this year)!

Carriage House Samplings
"Frederick"
I would like to introduce you to the newest addition (work in progress)(sneek peek) of my cross stitch addiction, my beautiful bird "Frederick". I love him and I have decided that I must stitch his beloved "Fredericka" to keep him company. Isn't he just gorgeous??!!!

Next is a picture of the beautiful baby set a dear friend of mine, Ellen, crocheted for me. Actually, for my future granddaughter......don't take that wrong, my son is only 14 years old, but I really, really, really hope that I get a "girl" someday to cuddle and love. (And even if I don't, a daughter-in-law would be great). Maybe in 10 years or so..... Ellen surprised me with this because she "knows" how badly I want a daughter so she made this for me to put in my hope chest for future use. The soft pink yarn she chose is so dainty and the pretty silk ribbon and flowers are a really nice touch. The flowers have pretty pearl buttons in the center if you look closely. She was so kind to make this for me.

Next is a photo of a little ornament I am making (sorry for the crummy photo). I wish I could get the lighting right so you could make out the true colors, it looks vintage or nostalgic looking. Now I am trying to decide exactly how I want to finish it. Sometimes I really have a hard time making decisions when I come up with too many options. Maybe I will just stick with something simple.

Happy stitching!

Your Frederick certainly is looking nice! Keeping a tree ready to go is a good idea; looks lovely plugged in 'n all.

You're so funny -- I was thinking, granddaughter?! What?! lol! Nice of your friend to make that for you. I was lucky -- I have a girl and a boy. Love your tree. And Frederick with Frederika is a definite must! They're fun to stitch up, except for that border! Good that you're doing Fred first. :D Love your ornament too!

I love that tree Jolene! I had crocheted a blanket for my 'future' baby before I was even dating my husband and became engaged, so I totally understand the baby sweater thing. Very nice!

Oh Jolene! You and me both. My only child is a 12 yr old boy. I'm already plotting my future DIL & grandchildren. I've requested 3 or 4 granddaughters. I'll happily take on a couple grandsons too; but I've given ds his orders. lol

But like you I can wait 15 years or so.

I think that you have my husband's dream tree. I have a couple of fishy ornaments on my tree too. I've never seen the fishing vest though, that's great. Yes Frederick is gorgeous! Him and his mate are on my wish list.

What a lovely gift from your friend - handmade items are always a treasure.

Oh Fred is looking great - he is so colorful.

Your fish tree is such fun, I bet your husband loves it.

I just love your tree Jolene! I think it would be so much fun to have something like that all year round. Really festive!

Frederick is looking wonderful - those colors are so eye grabbing and I agree that you must do Frederika to keep him company.

And that crocheted outfit is absolutely adorable! I do hope that you get your girl!! I've got one of each, but let me tell you, IMHO, boys are so much easier to raise.

Great tree!! How fun is that?! Love Frederick, of course you have to stitch Fredericka too! It is like Peanut Butter and Jelly!! I have them in my stash to stitch someday. The sweater your friend made for you 'someday' is GORGEOUS!! So much detail, and so tiny! Hope you get to snuggle a baby girl---way way in the future :)

Love the wonderful tree! Such a great idea!
Love Frederick. I would love to stitch him someday, and Fredericka too. Your doing great on it.
The baby outfit is darling! I do hope you get a girl to cuddle soon, (not too soon!) I absolutely love girls! I had 5 brothers, and no sisters, so when I finally got my girl...that was a great day! She is a joy.
Take care, and I'll see you soon!

Oh, Jolene--that is too funny about the pink crocheted baby set you received. I can totally relate--having only three sons and my husband in the house, I could definitely use some pink myself!! Someday...

Merry Christmas :)

I love love love your Frederick. I can't wait to get stitching him & Frederika. I have both of them ready to go but think Frederika will be the first to get my needle's attention. They are such beautiful designs.

Love the crocheted set!
