Two Hearts, One Love

Close up the of the beautiful floral wedding gown, Love those flavors!

I wish you could see this in person, it takes my breath away!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My Dear Sweet Mikey,
When I was young, I couldn’t think
What it would be like to be older.
How could I know it would bring such joy
Just to cuddle my head on your shoulder.
So many things bring happiness now,
Like a rub on the back or a smile,
And my feelings for you are stronger today
Than they were when we walked down the aisle.
When I was young, my fondest wish
Was a marriage that could be this good.
Where we’d work through pain to laugh again
As loving partners should.
As the days drift by we’re settling in,
To a life that’s rich and rewarding.
Just sharing with you is a dream come true;
You’re a pleasure well worth hoarding!
I’m still in love with you "My Mikey"
And I’m blessed and thankful that you are mine.
I Love you Sweetheart!!!!
143, Jolene
Happy 20th anniversary!! What a gorgeous sampler you did to commemorate your special day, love it! Hope you have many more happy years together!
Happy Blogiversary! I can't believe it's only been one year, because it seems like you've been part of the blogging community for years! What wonderful prizes! If I should be so lucky to win, I'd love the Vera bag or the BBD book!!
My husband and I worked together and after me not agreeing to go out with him for the first two weeks I knew him, I finally relented. Then, I fell head over heels for him and within another two weeks, he was asking me to marry him! From the start of us knowing each other until we were married was six weeks! Anyway, we were standing in the employee's area and he said "you would never marry me, would you??"...I didn't even hear him ask me this, another gal said "oh my gosh, he just asked you to marry him"...I said, no he didn't! she said "yes he did", I said...did you? he said yes, I did! I said, "no you didn't" and we went on like that for a while and then I realized he was serious, so I said YES, of course I would! Two weeks later, we got married, and here we are, 28 years and counting!! They said it wouldn't last cause we did it too soon. Whatever!
Thanks for the chance to share good memories! And the for the chance to play along :-)
xoxo
What!!! I'm first to comment?!?
I dated my DH for 2 weeks when he told me he was going to marry me - scared me. (had some previous bad boyfriends)
Truthfully, he didn't propose. I strongly suggested it was time we got married. (we had been together 4 years) So we did. 34 years ago. Best decision ever. Love you Rich.
Congratulations on your blogoversary! If I should happen to be chosen, my preferences are 4, 2, 3, then 1.
I met my husband at a seminar in Jacksonville, Florida. (I actually went out with two guys who were both interested in me, but I am glad I didn't pick the one who ended up with four kids in Tennessee!) My future sweetie was headed to a job in the Everglades and I worked in a Chicago suburb. My company had a WATS line that I could use after hours, so we talked on the phone for hours every day.
I was working 80 hour weeks, so I got some comp time and went to visit him in Florida. A friend of mine at work asked me if I was going to marry him and although the question took me by surprise, I said, "Yes, if he asked, I would say Yes." The minute I got home from Florida he called me and asked me to marry him. He had to call me back in a hour because he couldn't believe I said Yes right away. He was prepared to camp on my doorstep. By the time he called back I had sketched out the entire service (day, minister, chapel, maid of honor, photographer; all local, all friends). I was also taking a summer marketing course from Northwestern University and got an A on my paper about wedding dress marketing techniques. (I bought a sample size ten, but had fun watching the sales reps ignore me when I turned up without an engagement ring.)
The strangest part of this time was my ex-boyfriend, Paul. He called to ask me out a couple of months after he dumped me. When I said I was engaged, he was shocked. The last TEN women he dated all married the next man they met. If you wanted to find the perfect man, date Paul first. LOL
We "dated" for six weeks, got married six weeks later and will have been married 37 years this August.
Happy Wedding Anniversary and Blogoversary............
Well we have been going out 20 years this November and he still hasn't proposed as " I suppose we should get married one day" doesn't count LOL. I don't mind as I love him and he is mine LOL.
I love the VB bag and the Simple Joys chart.
Happy Anniversary Jolene and Michael! Congrats on this milestone and the beautiful finish!
Happy Blogiversary too! I would love to be entered in your giveaway. Unfortunately, I don't have a story to tell since I'm single and never married. Hopefully that won't disqualify me. My order would be 4, 2, 3, 1 too. :)
Happy 20th Anniversary!! And I lve the Goode Huswife patternyou chose to commenerate the event with. And Happy 1st Blogoversary, too!
The love of my life hasn't shown up, so I don't have a story to tell. I think I am too cynical to even date Paul these days!
Would love to win either prize #3 or #1.
Happy Anniversary and Blogoversary!
What lovely prizes, my choices are #2, #1, #3 and #4 if I am lucky to be one of the winners.
My husband and I were colleagues. He came over from Malaysia in 1982. We were together for 4 years before we got married at 28 years old. My parents were urging us to get married and we just flowed into it. We are married for 24 years now with 3 children. Love you, DH.
Hugs,
Oooooh Jolene, it is soooo pretty. I thee wed is in my stash and a project I intend to stitch in the near future. You were very brave to stitch it on black. Fabulous job girl!!! Happy Blogiversary to you too. My wedding proposal was lame and not something I enjoy thinkng back on as I am this eternal romantic and he said we have to get married for tax reasons, so I never had a proposal as such. We did things a bit backwards. We had both our children before getting married so what followed was just a formality at the Town Hall. I do love reading about everyone's proposals......maybe in my next life I will have a guy go down on one knee asking me to take his hand in marriage as life will not have the same meaning without me. I am happy for you that you have a good and kind man and that your love for each other have grown through the years. Its an example for us all.
What a lovely finish, and an appropriate piece to mark 20 years together, that's quite a milestone!
My partner proposed ...um... eight years ago? nine? and we've still not married yet ...well, I think giving up your life and moving across the Atlantic is pretty much a sign of commitment, don't you? He did it over the phone early one morning (UK time, he was in Canada) and I was a bit groggy and not terribly enthusiastic, so I had to email him when I got to the office to apologise...
(If this little story "counts", I have no preference for the draw)
Margaret said...
Happy anniversary and blogiversary! It was a pleasure to share the chart with you -- what a gorgeous finish that is! Wonderful!
I have to say the proposal for us was pretty boring. lol! In fact, I think I suggested marriage before my hubby. And then he asked me over dinner at a restaurant. I think. lol! It's been a while! I was the chaser in our relationship. I got him to teach me the Rubik's Cube in order to get him to court me. :D
I'd love the Vera Bradley Gabbey bag! You're so sweet to have a giveaway!
Robin said...
OMG! How super super generous of you. And how does one choose. All your items are fabulous. As for me and my husband of 35+ years, we first gazed into each others eyes over a hamburge grill at a fast food restaurant. Not much later, he caught the garter at his at his sister's wedding and I caught the bouquet and the rest, shall we say is history. If you make me pick one....it has to be Prize #2.
what a beautiful tribute to your marriages Jolene, the sampler is stunningly beautiful! love how the colors pop against the black background....Happy Anniversary to you both!
& Happy Blogiversary! thank you for sharing your life with us here in cyberspace...I always enjoy your posts...
Peter proposed to me on St. Patricks' Day 1986...I was supposed to go out with 'the girls' that evening to celebrate at the local pub (was a tradition, as most of the girls were Irish) ~ well, Peter asked me to wait as he went into his closet and pulled out a huge box...told me it was a present for St. Patty's day. (I"M not Irish!) so I opened it...inside was a smaller box, then a smaller box...about 12 boxes in all....until I got down to the smallest box, where a beautiful tiny diamond ring waited for me....he popped the question and of course I said yes...23 years of happiness and still counting....
Thanks for letting us walk down memory lane again with you!
Blessed be,
Lori from Notforgotten Farm
Oh rats! I was supposed to tell you how my husband proposed. Well, there's really not much to tell. We're pretty boring people.LOL. We met on a blind date and seen each other nearly every day from that point on. We were dating about 3 months and I was at his house, ( he was staying at his mom and dad's )he proposed to me on one knee, right there in front of his mom and dad! Maybe not the most romantic but I've got to give it him, it was a sure fire way for me to say yes!LOL!
Dee L said...
You are a true romantic and your I Thee Wed is absolutely stunning! I must have the worst proposal ever, though. After dating, breaking up and then getting back together (he refused to give up!) he just casually asks me as I'm about to go in the door to my apartment, "Would you like to get married?" That was 38 years, two children, and one amazing grandson ago. Should I be lucky enough to win your giveaway, my choices are #4, #1, #2, and #3.
Thanks so much!
Congratulations Jolene & Michael! May you have many more happy years together..."I The Wed" is stunning and a wonderful tribute to your special milestone!
And congrats on your blogaversary as well! I do love to read your posts and see your beautiful work...
My ex-husband did not propose to me...I had to propose to him...well, actually I had to beg and plead with him! LOL! He was beginning pilot training with the AF, and I was enlisted...not a good match in the eyes of the law (military)! But, after a few hours of "discussing" the situation, he caved...I mean, agreed...and we were married three days later! LOL!
And, you'll notice I said "ex"...so you see how that turned out! LOL! We are much better at being friends than partners...and, I got two wonderful, beautiful children out of the deal!
I would love to be included in your giveaway; my preference would be 4, 2, 3, and 1.
Happy anniversary!
My darling proposed me at New Years eve, after living at same household for year. Now we have 2 wonderfull daughters, age 4 and 1, next time we celebrate, it will be our 7th anniversary.
I didn't believed then, that it could be possible, but it is, I love him even more now than then. We are companions, I really can trust that he is there for me and girls :)
Hard to choose order, but maybe 2,4, 3 and 1?
Lots of loving years to you two! (And all of us too!)
Anne said...
Congratulations on both your anniversaries. Your "I Thee Wed" is stunning and your DH is dashing!
My husband thinks he proposed to me in the wee hours of the night one night, but actually, he might never have done it if I hadn't asked him the day before if we were ever going to get married. He wasn't sure then, but obviously the idea took hold. The fun part was keeping it to ourselves for several days. We told one of our college classmates who lived pretty far away (my husband was in graduate school at the time) and waited to see how long it would get back to his house mates (also college classmates) through the grapevine. The house mates didn't think that was very nice of us.
We will be celebrating 26 years next week. And as the song goes: "A happy ever after life isn't what we got, but we tended to be happy more often than not." (The Ballad of Erica Levine - Google it if you don't already know it.)
As for the give-away: #2, #4, #3, #1. Thanks so much for doing this!
Happy happy 20th Anniversary to you and your husband. So far as how my husband proposed to me, do you know I don't think he ever did. We had been going out for 2 years and it was just taken for granted I think way back then. We have now been married almost 43 years - gosh that makes me so old. Okay so I'm old and so is he. That sampler you stitched is just amazingly gorgeous. I have never stitched on black. Was it really hard to do? Did you use a light from underneath? I just love it ... it really pops and is so gorgeous
Happy Blogaversary as well. I can't believe you have only been blogging for one year. You have just been so generous throughout the year and have become one of my favorite blogs to visit. I love seeing your stitching and the things you have to say. Please enter me for your giveaway and I don't care which one it is because they are all great and anything from you would be perfect.
Lots and lots of Love
Happy anniversaries!! Congratulations on a long and happy marriage with many more years to come.
The real story with my husband revolves around the miraculous (seriously) events that brought us together, but that's not the question! We both knew the first time we laid eyes on each other that we were meant to be together. We talked about getting married from the very start, but he formally asked me four weeks after we met at a very nice restaurant. He had the waiter bring the ring out on a sliver platter. We would have gotten married that weekend, but we were in school and family couldn't make it, so we had to wait three agonizing months for the big day. It's been 15 years now!
You are so generous with your giveaways. :) If my name gets picked, 1. Vera bag, 2. sewing pouch, 3. Honeysuckle Manor, 4. Simple Joys.
What a beautiful gift to commemorate your 20 years together.
I had just gotten a new job so DH decided we needed to go out to dinner to celebrate. He called me at home and said I should dress up, I thought it was strange as he never cared what I wore when we went to dinner. I immediatly called my mom and told her "I think hes gonna finally ask" I just had a feeling. So we get to our favorite resturant, waited on by our favorite server. I noticed he was very nervous, fidgiting and touching the pocket of his suit jacket alot. He started saying. "You know this is the longest I have ever been in a relationship,it had been 3 years at this point, and I have always been nervous about commiting" by this point I am thinking OMG he's gonna break up with me LOL He then reaches into his suit jacket comes around the table gets down on one knee and pulls out the ring and tells me he could never think of spending his life with anyone else, that I make him happy to the moon and back, and would I marry him. Of course I said yes!! The other people having dinner started clapping our waiter brought us a bottle of champange and wrote the date on the cork :) It has been the best 10 years of my life :) And I could never think of my life without him.
If my name is picked I would have to go with
# 1 vera Bag #2 Simple Joys #3 sewing pouch and #4 Honeysuckle Manor.
Thank you for such a wonderful giveaway and enjoy the next 20 years!!!
I Thee Wed is beautiful and your husband is very handsome! Congratulations on your anniversaries!
When Rob and I got engaged, I was pregnant and he was scared to death. We had been talking about getting married when I got pregnant so that just sped up the process. We went out together to look at rings - I picked out a few I liked and then he made the final selection. After he picked it up, he came by my apartment, sat on the arm of the couch and in his most romantic voice ever said, "Here you go." and he handed me the box. Not wrapped. Not opened showing the ring. Just, "Here you go." Yep, I still married him - go figure! I'll have to tell you about our first date another time.... it was a wonder I ever went out with him again. BTW, he'd kill me if he knew I'd broadcast this story. LOL - there's a lesson in there..... I will pass on your giveaway as I have already been the recipient of one of your giveaways - it was such fun that I'd like to give someone else the opportunity!
Wow what a beautiful finish! I love it! Congrats on your anniversary AND your blogiversary!
My hubby and I went out and picked and bought my ring together, but I still wanted him to "officially" propose- I think it stressed him out a bit cause on the way home he stopped and bought me some roses and a teddy bear and proposed in the car! :-O
What lovely prizes, my choices would be 1, 3, 2, then 4. (I actually already have 4- but I could PIF to someone else!)
Thanks for the chance!
Congrats on your 20th anniversary and the fact that you are more in love than on your wedding day! I love the I Thee Wed and what a great way to celebrate your love.
My hubby and I will celebrate 23 years in August and it's so wonderful to be married to your best friend. We joke all the time about how he proposed because his college roommate actually burst into the room and demanded that I answer the question! LOL! Sad thing is that we lost contact with that guy years ago. But hubby made up for it on our 20th because he had dinner served to us on a pier over the ocean in Jamaica, he got down on one knee and slipped a eternity ring on my finger with 20 diamonds that go all the way around the band. I was shocked!
I would be honored to win anything from you but since you want an order, I'd say #3, #2, #1 and finally #4.
OMG! OMG! OMG! I LOVE IT!!!!! The colors are so rich and the black just makes everything pop. The couple looks so sweet together :o) Is this pattern still available Jolene? I would LOVE to stitch this.
Happy Anniversary you two :o) Do you have something special planned?
Happy Blogaversary as well! One whole year. Okay, let's see if I can remember...DH took me to this beautiful hotel that overlooks the ocean. It's a well known hotel in the area and one of our favorite places. We were in our room when he went to the bathroom. He was so nervous he had to gather his thoughts! LOL! When he came out, he proposed to me but I can't remember if he went down on one knee or what he said because I was SO excited :o) He told me he was going to marry me two months after we started dating so it really wasn't that big of a surprise ;o)
Oh boy! Let's see, 4, 2, 1 then 3 (only because I already have this pattern). Very generous Jolene. Thank you :o)
Congrats on 20 years! And still in love! That is the best part...
My hubby and I dated for 7 years and I knew I wanted to marry him but he told everyone he knew that he was "never" getting married. I finally had to give him the ultimatum because you just couldn't make house plans, financial plans, retirement plans, etc. So that Christmas he was nervous and finally proposed with a gorgeous ring!!! We were married 8 months later (thanks to his mom who quickly called for the reception hall and priest)...17 years and he is still teasing me about thinking it over so long.
Would love a chance at #2 and leave others a chance ...great giveaway! I love your GH Sampler - perfect gift for hubby...gorgeous stitching and colors!
Best wishes for many more. pj from Iowa.
And your prizes are, as always, so generous! That FG set is just charming, and Simple Joys is a pretty, summery set. Well, really they're all great! Thanks again for your generosity. :)
Wow, Jolene! What a beautiful way to commemorate your anniversary. "I Thee Wed" is just gorgeous, and it pops out on the black.
I have to admit I've been "awww"ing over all the stories. They're soooo romantic.
Does the fact that I'm single and not looking and therefore have no answer eliminate me? If not then it's 1,3,2,4.
PS What's your proposal story?
How sweet...hope you had a great anniversary. Your sampler is beautiful! I love her dress.
I love chocolate so my hubby proposed on Christmas Eve by placing the ring box in a box of Whitman's chocolates. I was oblivious that the outer plastic wrapping was missing...duh! I was very shocked to open it and find a ring box.
I would love to have prize #2 but all are great choices.
Oh, what a fun drawing! Congratulations on your anniversary! My dh and I will be celebrating 23 years in June. He actually asked me to marry him at a stop sign when he was taking me home one night, but I didn't get my ring until the first stroke of midnight on New Year Eve. :-) Isn't it wonderful to still enjoy being around the one you're married to?? :-)
I would *love* either the VB purse or the LHN Simple Joys if I happened to win your wonderful giveaway!
Blessings!
Tricia
Hi there! So nice to see such a wonderful post from you. However do you manage to do such wonderful things? First off, your sampler is amazing! I love this pattern so much. The colors, the saying...it's all perfect. Happy Anniversary sweet Jolene! I love what you wrote about your husband. It brought tears to my eyes...so sweet, really!
I would love to enter your giveaway. I've won before, so I feel guilty entering, but the prizes are amazing!
My husband proposed to me by jumping out of an airplane. He had my brother pick me up, and he took me to the airport in South Jordon and dropped me off in the middle of the runway. I stood there wondering what was going on, when I saw a plane up above and 3 guys skydiving out. He came down, and was throwing heart confetti from the air. It really hurt when it got to me, and thought I was being attacked by bugs! LOL
When he landed, he stripped off his flight suit, and he had a nice church suit on underneath. He knelt down and asked me to marry him. When I said yes, he wisked me off for a picnic lunch. It was all very dramatic and sweet. We both laugh about it now, as he is not that creative (or brave) anymore!
If you decide to enter my name (on account of winning once already), I would love #3. All the prizes are top notch girl! You are amazing!
Have a great day, and many hugs!
Congratulations on your anniversary. My husband proposed after we had been going out for 6 weeks. We were sitting in a pub having a drink, when he asked 'Do you fancy getting engaged?' that was it - not very romantic, but we have been married for 37 years so 'up yours' to all the people who said it wouldn't last. If I were to win one of your giveaways, I would choose #4 first, followed by 2, 3, then 1.
In this day and age, 20 years is truly something to be proud of, Jolene! Congratulations to you both.
My husband of almost 33 years and I met as sophomores in college. I was actually dating one of his fraternity brothers, but quickly broke up with that guy as soon as I met my future DH. We dated 3 years and he proposed, on bended knee, in his apartment. Nothing fancy or cutesy. Just a solid proposal--like the solid guy he is. He'd picked out a lovely ring all by himself and it was a complete and utter surprise. He's a keeper and I realize how blessed we have been...
If I were to win, I would chose #2 because the Simple Life so defines me :) Number 4 would be my next choice, followed by #1 and #3. Thanks for the chance--your generosity is legend :)
If I was lucky enough to win :) my choices would be 4,2,1,3. I am lucky to be married to the love of my life; we met in 1983 and lived together for 3 years; we broke up and still kept in touch w/each other, I came out to "visit" him after 12 years apart in 1996 for a "weekend" LOL well, I knew once I saw him my heart was thru. LOL We had a magical weekend, we went to the Denver Zoo and walked under a tree, he stopped and gave me the most romantic kiss a woman could dream of having, after he broke the kiss he told me "You know I'm going to love you for the rest of your life, will you marry me",
Sadly, we didn't make it; after 13 years of marriage; we just didn't make it; but I will always love him. Thank you for a chance at your giveaway hun. Congrats to you and your sweetie; I wish you the best forever.
Hugs, Sharlene
Happy Anniversary! :)
I am not married to my common-law partner. But I remember when we first decided to "date exclusively" a few years back it was kinda funny. It was really late at night, like 2am and we were just hanging out watching movies. And he just turned to me out of the blue and said "I just want to be with you and no one else".
Totally unexpected but exactly what I'd been hoping for. We now live together blissfully and enjoy each others company (I am hopeful that one day that ring will come!)
Thanks for the chance at your giveaway. I would like #3 or #4. But they are all gorgeous!
What a beautiful poem, I really enjoyed reading it. Happy Anniversary & Blogoversary too!!
My hubby took me out to a favourite restaurant and we had a table looking out over the harbour. I had had a bad day and was very upset with a friend of mine and was telling him all about it, I was having a good old whinge and he came out and said "Lisa, shut up a minute, I've got something to ask you, Will you marry me?"
I was soo gobsmacked, as I was totally not expecting it, of course I said yes. He told me afterwards that he had wanted to say it a little more romantically, but I just wouldn't stop talking. Oops!!
We have been married 8 years and been together for 18 years in total, pretty much high school sweethearts!
My preferences for the drawing are #2 #3 #4 then #1.
Thanks
LISA V
Happy Anniversary and Happy 1st Blogaversary! Thanks for a chance at this generous giveaway.
My husband and I met through a relative of his. I really wasn't interested, as I was currently dating someone else. He called and asked me out. I went (yes, I cheated on my boyfriend). Within weeks we were head over heels in love. Seven months later he proposed at our favorite beach. Old fashioned, down on the knee "will you marry me?" Yes, I was surprised and 30 years later he still surprises me. Love ya, J.
I would prefer #1, #3, #2 and #4 Thanks. Pam
HAPPY BLOGAVERSARY!!! It seems like I have been reading your posts for more than a year. Your writing seems so effortless and your pictures inspire me.
My DH had waited for his entire family to be at Thanksgiving at his mom's house to propose to me. We went on a family walk and DH had been holding my hand and I was so deep into conversation that I hadn't noticed he slipped a ring on my finger. About 20 minutes later he took my hand to his lips to kiss and that's when I noticed the ring. He asked I cried YES and his family clapped!! 25 years later we still feel like we are on our honeymoon!!
I wish you many many more years of wonderful blogging.
