A Mothers Love

Is this the most beautiful headstone you have ever
laid eyes on? My Mikey
and I went to the Kaysville Cemetery for a walk this morning to see to my parents grave before they remove the flowers from Memorial Day. This is such a peaceful statue and the attention to detail is so intricate. It reminds me of my sister, Teresa, a mother to twin girls.

TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHISTMAS

Is it too early for Christmas??? I LOVE this pattern from Prairie Schooler. I bought it off ebay for $57.00!!! I had been looking for this pattern for soooooo long (over a year), I decided it was priceless and I was going to make it no matter what the cost. A Birthday present to myself...after all I am worth it. I changed all the colors to Sampler Threads and added a few beads here and there on the holly. Definitely a fun project to stitch. I would love to hear your comments on this one.

FAITH UPDATE

Here is a sneak peek at "Faith", I finished it last week, but was hoping to have it framed before I posted it. See the cute little ladybug inching her way up the stem. So Sweet! I need someone or something to get me motivated to paint the frame and get a piece of glass for it. Wish me luck......maybe this weekend.

LOVE LIBERTY

Chessie & Me
Love Liberty

32 count coffee dyed linen
Gentle Art Sampler Threads
1 strand floss over two threads

Memorial weekend turned out to be a little wet and a little sunny. Saturday was rainy (and cold) so I curled up and took a nap and later did some stitching. Then I fixed chili cheese dogs for the gang and for dessert we had fresh strawberries served over a slice of pistachio swirl cheesecake roll, YUMMY!

Sunday turned out to be a little nicer day so we journeyed out for a trail ride on our ATV's just south of Torrey, UT. We enjoyed a picnic lunch and on our way back we did a little hiking to look for geods at the Sunglow campground. (I think that's how you spell that?) For dinner we barbequed steak and had a huge variety of salads. For dessert, my cousin, John, made a heavenly chocolate cake from scratch.

Pure Sweetness

I completed stitching "Faith" (my WIP) this morning before I left for work. I stayed up until about 1:00 a.m. working on it while at the same time trying to get some laundry done. I only had 16 stitches left and the ladybug to attach but I was soooo tired, I don't think toothpicks could have held my eyes open long enough to finish it! I want to frame it before I share it with you. In the meantime, here is a photo of some embroidery work I stitched and made into a sweet, yet funky pillow. The pattern is by Needle in a Haystack.

I'm getting excited to start a new project (even though I have several "irons" in the fire). I am contemplating what to start.....I have so many patterns to choose from! My family and I will be heading out of town for a "fun in the sun" weekend with relatives over the Memorial holiday. Four wheelers, family, food, and a dirt road showcasing beautiful scenery make for a special outing. I can't wait til Friday!

Faith Update

Update on "Faith" as of today. Hopefully, I will get it finished tonight. I really like the butterfly on it. I purchased a small ladybug embellishment to put on the stem of the flower, I think it will really add some fun detail to the piece. I am having a friend make me a custom frame for it and I will add some "plant on" wood to the the frame and paint it. I will post the finished product on Wednesday or Thursday. Keep your fingers crossed for me. Can't wait to hear Miriam's reaction!

My First Birdhouse

This is the first birdhouse I made with my cousin Aimee. We had fun scavenging for rusty treasures to decorate our birdhouses with. I made this out of old weathered wood and rusty corregated metal for the roof. It was crazy trying to cut the metal for the roof, it took both of us to get the job done. I didn't have a pattern for it, I just kinda "winged" it. I think it turned out pretty good.

Stunned

Can you believe I am actually holding this beautiful baby canary? I hold a fondness to this beautiful photo and the essence of springtime in Utah.

Beaded Love.....

I stitched this over Mother's Day weekend in 2003. This may sound funny but I took a road trip (by myself) to go antique shopping and sight seeing through Zions Canyon in southern Utah. I rented a new car, a Toyota Camry, and bought me a new cd of Kenny Chesney (the car had a cd player and my own car didn't). I had so much fun traveling by myself. The scenery was incredible and I could go at my own pace. I used alphabet letters to create the word "LOVE" and I stitched them in solid antique beads. I attached a brass heart between the "L" and "O" since there was a bit of a gap. I think this is one of my favorite pieces.

Tinkerbella, Cinderella's Handsome Fella

My husband took this beautiful photo with his cell phone today. Tinks is sooooooo beautiful!! I just LOVE him! He normally has really long hair but since the weather is changing he started shedding. (I hate cat hair, it always seems to end up in my eyes.) Anyway, Mike took him to get pampered....the result....Poodlelion. He looks like half lion and half poodle. Too bad the photo doesn't show his puffy tail end. He loves to climb anything and everything. More often than not he climbs up our trumpet vine next to our bedroom window and gets on the roof, I think he thinks he is a watch dog! Snow, ice, whatever, there is no stopping this critter.

HAVE A LITTLE FAITH

What a long week I have had! I have been sick with bronchitis and finally got some antibiotics, so I hope they will kick in and I start feeling like my old self again. I started this W.I.P. about a week and a half ago. My friend, Miriam, lost her father and so I decided I would make something for her she can keep rather than give her flowers. This is a pattern from Little House Needleworks.

Hare's Mothers Day

I started and completed this adorable freebie pattern from Plum Street Samplers in one day!!!! You can find the free pattern for it here. I made it for my friends Mother for Mother's Day 2009. I hope she loves it and it puts a smile on her face. While stitching it, it brought back fond memories of years past when my son was small and how he would pick flowers from our yard and present them to me with a kiss on the cheek. I sure miss those days of young innocence. Happy Mother's Day to all of you!

TIGGER

Tigger was my brothers lab. A sweet old dog that I just loved. This picture was taken in the Summer of 2008 in front of my Aunt's home in Southern Utah. Tigger was a shy dog, but he was a special dog nonetheless. He recenltly passed away and I wanted to share the last photo I took of him with you.

My first

Wow, I am creating my first blog! Wish me luck! I am posting a cross stitch I recently made for a contest entry from Blackbird Designs. It was really fun to create and personalize. I have never stitched my actual name on a design until now. The significance of number 143 I stitched after my name simply means "I Love You". It was my salutation on love letters to my boyfriend when I was young. It was a fun code that only the two of us knew. The word I has one letter, love four letters and you three letters.
